A belated “Happy Canada Day” to everyone.  In honor of one of their favorite son’s, this Astronomy Pop Quiz will be about Col. Chris Hadfield and his book An IMG_3203Astronaut’s Guide to Life On Earth.

With that in mind, ladies and gentlemen, please get out a clean sheet of paper and a No. 2 pencil and prepare for today’s Astronomy Pop Quiz.

  1. shower….………@WarrenRubin1: “Long hot showers” to be exact. When I served on Crew 42 of the Mars Analogue Research Station, we took “navy showers.” My take-away from his book: “There’s really just one thing I can control: my attitude during the journey.” p. 41

  1. pee on it…………….@Sjc1458: Yes, on the back passenger side tire! Can you believe it?   The book hints about what women do, but I’m not going to spoil it.  My take-away from his book: “When you’re part of a team, ask ‘How can I help us get to where we need to go?’” p. 106

  1. cosmic rays.……….. @catkotcat: Astrophysicists have not yet figured out the exact origin of these high energy particles, They’re pretty sure our Sun and the stars are involved somehow in the appearance of cosmic rays. My take-away from his book: “Don’t assume you know everything, and try to be ready for anything.” p. 192
